We love our volunteers! The gardens at MBG consists of living plants, trees and shrubs, as well as open lawns, pathways and structures. So, volunteers are always needed and welcomed to perform a variety of projects and activities to help us maintain the gardens.

The Montgomery Botanical Gardens was alive with productive volunteers in February that warmed our hearts in this month of Valentine’s Day. With careful coordination and scheduling we were able to welcome the members of the Huntingdon College Softball Team who were eager to volunteer to help. With the help of Coach Roesler, these 27 young ladies arrived on February 6, 2025, with positive attitudes and addressed each suggested project with enthusiasm.

They loaded and moved a significant number of Belgian ballast stones and placed them around the edge of the outdoor stage to help prevent erosion and to enhance the appearance of the stage. They also spread pine straw in areas as needed. We sincerely appreciate the work of these young ladies and look forward to this group of volunteers to return soon.

We also sincerely appreciate our regular volunteers from the Capital City Master Gardener Association who performed a number of tasks on February 5, 2025, to prepare the gardens for the coming Spring. They worked in the Entrance beds, the Green Bridges Pollinator Gardens, the Sensory Garden and the bulb garden in the Southern Garden.
