Now is the perfect time for your visit to the gardens. With the recent rains and spring sunshine, the plants in the Southern Garden are thriving and they are displaying their beautiful blooms for you to enjoy. The entrance beds welcome you with bursts of color and stalks of yellow and pink Snapdragons swaying in the breeze. Come stroll the pathways and stop to observe and perhaps take photos of the newly established Sensory Garden’s white Butterfly Bush, Gardenia and feathery Bronze Fennel.

The Daylily Garden is spectacular as always with its many blooming varieties of daylilies and companion plants including tall Salvia, bright Cone Flower, pink Begonia, and others. As each Daylily blossom only lasts for a single day, don’t delay your visit to the garden so you may view them in their glory. Just behind this garden are two double-blossom ornamental Pomegranate shrubs with a few remaining bright coral/red flowers.

But the stars of the show at this time are the numerous Hydrangea heavy with their pillowy blossoms of pinks, white, blue, lavender. Don’t miss the Alabama native Oak Leaf Hydrangea along the fence or the Limelight Hydrangea about to display its beautiful white blooms just past the Daylily Garden.

Enjoy the benches in the garden to rest and appreciate this oasis of nature’s beauty in the midst of our urban environment. It is truly a blessing to our community.
